Caldwell County Jail Roster Overview
The official Caldwell County jail roster is the Daily In Custody Report by Facility linked from the county detention page as the List of Current Inmates PDF. It is free and does not require a login. The jail is part of the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office led by Sheriff Kevin H. Bean, whose Sheriff's Office page lists the agency address, phone lines, detention links, and support-service contacts. The inspected copy was a generated report for all facilities with entries under the Detention Center. The PDF had a visible report timestamp, which matters because the report can change as people are booked, released, transported, or moved under a different hold.
The roster covers current county jail custody. It is not the NCDAC prison locator, not the federal BOP locator, and not the ICE Online Detainee Locator System. That distinction matters in Caldwell County because the local roster may show local agency entries, Lenoir Police Department entries, and U.S. Marshals lines, but a person can leave the county roster after transfer, release, or sentencing. When the PDF does not show the person, the next step is to test the correct custody system instead of assuming no record exists.
Use the Caldwell County Jail Roster
Start from the official detention page, not from commercial search results. The county page groups the current-inmate PDF with bond information, visitation, mail, phone, and account links. Because the roster is a PDF, it has no Search button, no advanced search form, and no facility dropdown. The tool is the reader's browser or PDF viewer.
- Open the official Caldwell County detention page and choose the List of Current Inmates PDF.
- Read the generated date and time near the top of the report.
- Use the PDF find command for the last name, then try the first name or spelling variants.
- Review the full entry, including lines that wrap above or below the name.
- Write down the booking number, charge, agency, docket, bond, court date, and booking time before calling or visiting.
- If no entry appears, check NCDAC, VINELink, BOP, ICE, or the court portal based on the likely custody status.
The detention page gives a direct warning for court dates: use the NC Court System website or call the Caldwell County Clerk of Court for court-process questions. The jail roster can print a court date, but the court system is the formal source for case status.
Caldwell County Roster Search Fields
The Caldwell County inmate records PDF has printed fields, not input fields. A user can still search the text, but the report itself does not narrow results by age, case number, housing unit, charge, or booking date. The table below reflects the actual search channel documented in the research file.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| PDF browser find/search | Browser or PDF text search | Optional | The county roster has no web form. Use find by last name or first name. |
| Name | Printed roster field | N/A | Names are printed last name first, followed by age/jurisdiction and race/sex fields. |
| Facility | Printed grouping | N/A | The inspected report listed Facility: DETENTION CENTER. |
| Booking number | Printed roster field | N/A | Numeric booking number tied to the jail intake. |
| Charge/court/bond details | Printed combined field | N/A | Charges, agency, judicial status, docket, bond, status, type, and court date may appear on charge lines. |
| Buttons | None | N/A | No Search, Submit, Reset, or advanced-search buttons are part of the county PDF. |
Caldwell County Inmate Profile Fields
The report is more like a custody ledger than a profile page. It can show court and bond facts that are useful, but it does not show every detail people expect from an inmate profile. No mugshot, housing unit, date of birth, release date, height, weight, hair color, eye color, or home address was visible in the inspected public PDF.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Report timestamp | The generated date and time for the roster report. |
| Name | Last-name-first inmate name with no public profile link. |
| A/J and R/S | Printed age/jurisdiction and race/sex code fields. |
| Booking number | Numeric jail booking identifier. |

| Bond | Amount or code such as secured bond, no bond, or other status. |

| Mugshot | No booking photo was visible in the inspected official PDF. |
County State and Federal Inmates
Caldwell County inmate records are split by custody type. The county jail roster is the correct path for pretrial detainees, short local sentences, people waiting for court transport, and some holds. The NCDAC locator is the correct path for sentenced state prison offenders, probationers, and parolees. Federal and immigration custody use separate federal systems.
| Custody | Where to Look | Key Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Current county jail custody | Caldwell County Daily In Custody Report PDF | Current report only, no interactive portal. |
| State prison, probation, parole | NCDAC Offender Public Information Search | NCDAC says it does not include county jail information. |
| Victim notification | NC SAVAN / VINELink | Notifications can cover county jail, prison, probation, parole, and sex-offender status. |
| Sentenced federal inmate | BOP Inmate Locator | Covers federal inmates from 1982 to present. |
| Immigration detainee | ICE ODLS | Requires federal detainee search data and JavaScript. |
Caldwell County Jail Facilities
The local jail is the Caldwell County Detention Center. Caldwell Correctional Center is also in Caldwell County, but it is a state prison and should be searched through NCDAC. The research did not locate a separate municipal jail, federal prison, ICE detention facility, or regional jail in the county.

Caldwell County Booking and Intake
After arrest, a person who will be held locally is taken to the Caldwell County Detention Center. The county detention page states that once the person is brought before a judge or magistrate, conditions of release are set by that judicial official. Those conditions, often called bond, must be met before release before the court date. Jail staff do not decide the formal court charge, and a roster charge may change once the prosecutor reviews the case.
The inmate handbook adds useful intake detail. Personal property is inventoried and placed in the property room. Inmates receive an ID bracelet that must be worn and displayed, and a damaged or lost bracelet carries a $5 reissue fee. Classification occurs within several days and reviews conduct, disciplinary write-ups, adjustment to incarceration, and security needs. County inmates may be classified as minimum, medium, or maximum custody.
- Booking
- The jail intake record created after arrest.
- Detainer
- A hold or request from another agency that can affect release.
- Classification
- The custody-level assignment made after intake and review.
- Secured bond
- A bond backed by cash, property, or a bondsman before release.
Caldwell County Visitation Rules
County jail visits are scheduled through ICSolutions. Onsite visits are allowed Saturday and Sunday in three time blocks, and visits run in 25-minute intervals. Each inmate may have two onsite visits per weekend and up to one offsite visit per day. Up to four people may attend an onsite visit, using any mix of adults and children over age 2. Infants do not count against that limit.
| Visit Type | Schedule | Length / Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Onsite | Saturday-Sunday, 8 am-10 am | 25-minute intervals, scheduled through ICSolutions. |
| Onsite | Saturday-Sunday, 1 pm-4 pm | Up to four people per visit; minors must be accompanied. |
| Onsite | Saturday-Sunday, 8 pm-10 pm | Two onsite visits per inmate each weekend. |
| Offsite video | Up to one offsite visit per day | First come, first served through ICSolutions. |
Leave phones, purses, and large bags in the vehicle when possible. If a visitor is dropped off and cannot leave items in a car, the visitation officer may hold items, but the Detention Center is not responsible for lost property.
Contact and Records Fallbacks
When the roster is unclear, call the jail line at 828-759-1510 or the Sheriff's Office main line at 828-758-2324. For incident reports completed by Sheriff's deputies, the support-services page says to come to the Sheriff's Office from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, closed holidays. For court-date or court-process questions, the detention page points readers to the NC Court System website or the Caldwell County Clerk of Court at 828-759-3502.
The Sheriff's records section is shown on the official Support Services page, which explains the in-person incident-report process and related records functions.
That records channel is a local fallback for incident reports, while court records, state prison records, and federal custody records remain with separate custodians.
Caldwell County Inmate Funds
After a Caldwell County inmate record is confirmed, money and service channels should come from the official county links. Funds for inmate accounts are handled through AccessCorrections. Phone accounts and visit scheduling use ICSolutions. Care packages are ordered through AccessCatalog. The handbook says calls are collect, monitored, recorded, and three-way calls are prohibited.
| Need | Official Channel | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Add funds | AccessCorrections | Linked by the county for inmate accounts. |
| Phone funds and visits | ICSolutions | Used for phone accounts and visit scheduling. |
| Care packages | AccessCatalog | Official county-linked care-package vendor. |
| Release balance | Prepaid debit card | The handbook says remaining balances are issued at release this way. |
Note: Confirm custody on the current roster before sending money, scheduling a visit, or ordering a care package.
